Vehicles with a High-Voltage System
-- Initiate the A/C system basic setting through the Thermal Management Control Module -J1024- and open the power-activated valves through the stored routine "Extract, evacuate and fill the refrigerant circuit" using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Switch off the ignition.
-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit or Working with A/C Service Station .
-- Remove the lock carrier cover. Refer to Front Bumper .
-- On vehicles with an electric radiator shutter, remove it. Refer to RADIATOR SHUTTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - 2.0RADIATOR SHUTTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - 2.9L, 3.0L .
-- If equipped, remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the air duct -1-.
A5 from Product Improvement with 4 Cylinder TFSI
-- Release the retainers -arrow- for the left air duct, tilt the air duct -3- inward and remove.
-- Release the retainers in direction of -arrows-, disengage the condenser -1- and slightly press to the left side.

Danger or frostbite due to refrigerant coming out under pressure.
Frostbite on the skin and other parts of the body is possible.
- Wear safety gloves.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Evacuate or drain refrigerant and open the refrigerant circuit immediately.
- If more than 10 minutes elapse after extracting or draining the refrigerant and the refrigerant circuit was not opened, extract or drain the refrigerant again. Pressure develops in the refrigerant circuit due to evaporation.
-- Remove the plug -A-.
-- Remove the desiccant bag from the condenser receiver/dryer -B-. Refer to OVERVIEW - CONDENSER .
-- Seal the open connection on receiver/dryer of the condenser with plug -A- (to prevent dirt and moisture from getting in).
