1. O-Ring
   • Replace after removing
   • Coat with oil before assembly
2. Oil Dipstick Tube
   • Clipped in on the upper timing chain cover
3. Bolt
   • 9 Nm
4. Left Coolant Pipe
   • Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - COOLANT PIPES .
5. Bolt
   • Permanent, included in the delivery package -item  : Upper Timing Chain Cover
   • Tightening sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
6. Bolts
   • Replace after removing
   • Tightening Specifications:
     • Steel bolt 9 Nm
     • Aluminum bolt 4 Nm +45°
7. Exhaust Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N318-
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to Cam Adjustment Valve 1 -N205- /Exhaust Cam Adjustment Valve 1 -N318-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Replace the O-ring -item  : O-Rings.
8. Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205-
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to Cam Adjustment Valve 1 -N205- /Exhaust Cam Adjustment Valve 1 -N318-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Replace the O-ring -item  : O-Rings.
9. Seals
   • Replace if damaged or leaking
   • Installation position: smaller inner diameter outward
   • Remove to replace the upper timing chain cover -item  : Upper Timing Chain Cover
   • Coat with oil before assembly
10. Upper Timing Chain Cover
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to UPPER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
11. Seal
    • Installed, depending on the version
    • Replace if damaged
12. Filler Neck
    • Installed, depending on the version
13. Seal
    • Replace if damaged
14. Cap
15. Seal
    • Replace if damaged or leaking
16. O-Rings
    • Replace after removing
    • coat with engine oil
17. Alignment Pin
    • Quantity: 2
    • For centering the cover
18. Bolt
    • Replace after removing
    • Tightening specification and sequence with 15 bolts. Refer to Fig 3.
    • Tightening specification and sequence with 8 bolts. Refer to Fig 4.
19. Lower Timing Chain Cover
    • With gasket
    • Replace after removing
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REPLACING .
20. Seal
    • for the vibration damper
    • Replacing. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER SEAL, REPLACING .
21. Plugs
    • Replace after removing

-- Tighten the bolts -1 to 6- to 9 Nm in the sequence shown.

Lower Timing Chain Cover with 15 bolts - Tightening Specification and Sequence

• Replace bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.

-- Tighten the bolts in the steps in the sequence shown:
