Rear Final Drive 0D2, 0G2 And 0DG, Removing And Installing, AUDI Q7, Q8

Final Drive, Removing: 

Pay attention to the general repair information. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .

-- Place the vehicle on a hoist.

-- Remove the driveshaft on the rear final drive. Refer to DRIVE SHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -1, 3 and 4- and the cover -2-.

-- Remove the left underbody trim panel -6-.

-- Remove the nuts -3-.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 2 and 5-.

-- Remove the bolts -1 to 3- and the left diagonal brace.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the left drive axle heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the bolts for the left and right drive axle -arrows-.

-- Guide the drive axle out of the flange shaft and move it to the side.

-- Remove the bolts on both sides -arrows- and lower the stabilizer bar.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and remove the cover for the air supply unit -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the solenoid valve block -1- from the bracket -2- and disengage on the side.

-- Remove the nut -1-.

-- Place the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931  with the Universal Transmission Support under the rear final drive.

-- Remove the bolt -2-.

-- Remove the bolts for the rear final drive -arrows-.

-- Carefully lower the rear final drive.

-- Pivot the rear final drive on the left side upward and remove the right side downward.

-- Then guide out the left side downward past the exhaust pipe.

-- Guide out the final drive with the driveshaft flange past the stabilizer bar.

Final Drive, Installing:

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Bring the rear final drive into its installation position using the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931  and Universal Transmission Support.

-- Install the bolt -2- hand-tight.

-- Install the bolts -arrows- for the rear final drive and tighten.

-- Tighten the bolt -2- with the Torque Wrench, 80-400Nm: V.A.G 1576A  and the Torque Wrench 1332 Insert - Ring Wrench - 21mm: V.A.G 1332/7  .

-- Tighten the nut -1-.

-- Remove the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931  from under the final drive.

-- Tighten the solenoid valve block -1- on the bracket -2- -arrows-.

-- Tighten the air supply unit cover -1- using the nuts -arrows-.

Continuation for All 

-- Insert and tighten the drive axles. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the left flange shaft heat shield -1-.

-- Install the driveshaft on the rear final drive. Refer to Figure.

-- Tighten the stabilizer bar -arrows-.

-- If removed, install the diagonal brace. Refer to DIAGONAL BRACES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the underbody trim panel. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS .

-- Check the gear oil level in the rear final drive. Refer to GEAR OIL, CHECKING LEVEL .

Tightening specifications: 

• Refer to OVERVIEW - DRIVE AXLE .
• Refer to OVERVIEW - STABILIZER BAR .
• Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS .
• Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY BRACING .
