Glass Panel Seal, Removing and Installing
- The following components must be replaced after removal. Refer to OVERVIEW - SLIDING SUNROOF, Q3 SPORTBACK .
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Wiring Harness Repair Set - Hot Air Blower: VAS 1978/14A
- Lever - Fuel Line: T10468
- Applicator. Refer to Parts Information.
- Cleaning Solution. Refer to the Parts Information.
- Bonding Agent. Refer to the Parts Information.
Removing
-- Open the glass panel far enough until it is lifted at the front and rear.
-- Mark the seal installation position for installation.
-- Loosen the glass panel seal with the Lever - Fuel Line: T10468 and remove it.
-- Remove the glass panel seal. If necessary, also warm it up using the Wiring Harness Repair Set - Hot Air Blower: VAS 1978/14A . Refer to COMPONENTS WITH ADHESIVE TAPE, INSTALLATION PREPARATION .
Installing
-- The procedures and guidelines for temperatures, minimum curing times, removing adhesive residue and cleaning must be observed. Remove adhesive residue and adhesive surfaces. Refer to COMPONENTS WITH ADHESIVE TAPE, INSTALLATION PREPARATION .
There is a risk of damaging the outer door seal.
- Do not pull or compress the outer door seal.
-- Apply Bonding Agent -item 1- on the painted adhesive surface -2- using the Applicator -item 3- and allow it to dry for 10 minutes.
- If the Bonding Agent dries longer than two hours, then it must be primed again.
-- Remove the protective film from adhesive tape.
-- Position the seal according to the mark made during removal and press it on completely.
- Resting time approximately 30 minutes at room temperature
