Overview - Wheel Bearing, Fwd Vehicles, Version 1
- Wheel Bearing Housing
- Removing and Installing. Refer to WHEEL BEARING HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, FWD VEHICLES .
- Bonded Rubber Bushing
- Replacing. Refer to WHEEL BEARING HOUSING BONDED RUBBER BUSHING, REPLACING .
- Washer
- The bevel must face outward.
- Bolt
- Tightening specification. Refer to OVERVIEW - REAR BRAKES .
- Brake Rotor
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE ROTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Dust Cap
- Replace after removing
- Removing and Installing. Refer to WHEEL BEARING UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, FWD VEHICLES, VERSION 1 .
- A perfect seal is only achieved using a new dust cap
- Bolt
- Replace after removing
- Clean the threads in the wheel bearing housing with a thread tap before installing.
- Bolt, Loosening and Tightening. Refer to DRIVE AXLE THREADED CONNECTION, LOOSENING AND TIGHTENING .
- 200 Nm + 180° additional turn
- Wheel Bearing Unit
- With sensor ring for ABS speed sensor
- Check sensor ring. Refer to Sensors ; Sensor Ring for ABS Speed Sensor Checking
- Cannot be serviced
- Removing and Installing. Refer to WHEEL BEARING UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, FWD VEHICLES, VERSION 1 .
- Handling the wheel bearing. Refer to Fig 2.
- Bolt
- Tightening specification. Refer to OVERVIEW - REAR BRAKES .
- Brake Shield
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Wheel Bearing, Handling
CAUTION:
Improper handling and poor cleanliness could increases the risk of wheel bearing damage.
- Note the following instructions for handling the wheel bearing.
- Position the wheel bearing -1- so that it faces upward.
- Always set the wheel bearing down on the wheel hub -2-.
