Glove Compartment, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the front passenger side instrument panel side cover. Refer to Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL SIDE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the footwell lamp. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - INSTRUMENT PANEL LAMPS .
-- Open the glove compartment lid.
-- Remove the glove compartment lamp. Refer to Glove Compartment Lamp -W6-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Equipped on some models: remove the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows 1 to 8-, shown as an example.
-- Disengage the glove compartment -1- at the side from the pin -arrow- as shown here as an example.
-- Slightly remove the glove compartment carefully.
-- Disconnect the connectors.
-- Equipped on some models: remove the connection for the glove compartment cooling.
-- Carefully place the glove compartment -1- with the connected knee airbag connector in the footwell.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- for the knee airbag and remove the bracket -2-.
-- Engage the glove compartment -1- with the knee airbag back into the instrument panel.
-- Lift the glove compartment insert -2- with a flat-head screwdriver and remove it.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and carefully remove the knee airbag from the glove compartment.
-- Carefully remove the knee airbag -4-, until the connector -3- can be disconnected.
Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.
Risk of injury.
- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.
-- To do so, use a small flat-head screwdriver to release the connector lock -2- -arrow- and disconnect the connector.
-- Remove the knee airbag.
-- Disengage the glove compartment -1- from the instrument panel and remove it.
