Cylinder Head Bank 1 (Right), Removing, 2.9L Engine

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Engine Bung Set: VAS6122 
• Socket T30: T10405 

Procedure 

-- Remove the cylinder bank 1 (right) camshaft housing. Refer to CYLINDER BANK 1 (RIGHT) CAMSHAFT HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the right turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING, CYLINDER BANK 1 (RIGHT), 2.9L ENGINE .

-- Remove the front coolant pipe. Refer to COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the right intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Bring the engine support and engine mount into the installation position and install the bolts all the way.

-- Remove the extractor. Refer to ENGINE, SUPPORTING IN INSTALLATION POSITION .

-- Remove the bolt -1- and remove the bleeder line -2- from the cylinder head.

-- Disconnect the connector -1- for the Oxygen Sensor 1 After Catalytic Converter -GX7- and free up the wire.

-- Remove the right catalytic converter.

-- Remove the bolts -2- and the remove the chain tensioner -1-.

-- Remove the guide pin -5-.

-- If the cylinder head is removed with the engine installed: push the guide rail -4- upward and secure using a cable tie to the camshaft timing chain -3- as shown.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows and 9-.

-- Loosen the cylinder head bolts in the sequence -1 to 8-. 

-- Remove the bolts and the cylinder head carefully.

-- Lay the cylinder head on a soft surface, such as foam.

-- Seal the open channels of the intake and exhaust tract with a clean cloth or with completely clean plugs from the : VAS6122  .
