Outer CV joints:
NOTE:
Outer constant velocity (CV) joints are packed with -G6- grease.

Inner tripod joints:
- Tripod joints are packed with 140 g (5 oz.) grease G 000 605.
- Re-grease joint, if necessary, when replacing joint boot.
NOTE:
If the tools shown in the illustrations are unavailable, equivalent workshop equipment can be used. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for the tool you are using.
- Driveshaft with inner CV joint
- Supplied as replacement part with boot and grease
- Clamp
- Always replace

- Check for cracks and abrasion
- To replace, press off outer CV joint
- When sliding onto shaft, grease bead on shaft lightly and carefully pull boot on with wedge :VAG1474/5 (component of tool VAG 1474) Fig. 4 Pulling boot over splined shaft bead

- When assembling, install in ring groove of shaft (not visible with CV joint installed)

- 98 mm (3.8 in.) outer diameter
- Replace only as complete assembly

- To install, drive joint onto shaft with plastic hammer, engage up to circlip
