Preparation Work For Calibrating Driver Assistance Systems
Perform the Following Steps Using "Quick Access" If One or More Driver Assistance Systems on the Vehicle Will Be Calibrated (Without a Previous Axle Alignment):
- Before driving the vehicle onto the alignment stand, make sure there is enough space between the vehicle and the ACC Adjustment Device.
- Audi Q7: the distance between the calibration device and the vehicle must be 120 cm ± 2.5 cm.
- Audi Q8: the distance between the calibration device and the vehicle must be 130 cm ± 2.5 cm.
- If there is not sufficient space, drive vehicle backward on alignment stand in order to be able to use the corresponding space.
- Audi Q7: vehicles with rear axle steering: switch off the ignition when the vehicle has come to a stop. This is the only way to ensure that the rear axle steering is in the straight-ahead position.
- Audi Q8: vehicles with rear axle steering: drive the vehicle "straight" onto the alignment rack. Switch off the ignition when the vehicle has come to a stop. Move the rear axle steering into zero position. Refer to REAR AXLE STEERING GEAR, MOVING INTO ZERO POSITION, AUDI Q8 . This is the only way to ensure that the rear axle steering is in the straight-ahead position.
- Check the DTC memory and correct any errors before beginning the calibration/adjusting.
- Vehicle accurately aligned, suspension bounced and rocked several times
- Make sure that the sliding plates and turn tables are not touching the end stop when checking the wheel alignment.
- Connect the battery charger for the battery support mode. Refer to BATTERY, CHARGING .
- Position the front wheels so they are straight.
- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester to the vehicle and guide the diagnostic cable through the open window.
- The vehicle exterior lamps are off.
- All the vehicle doors are closed.
- "Activate wheel change mode" on equipment versions with air suspension. Refer to Owner's Manual or "Standard Vehicle Height, Initiating and Locking". Refer to STANDARD VEHICLE HEIGHT, INITIATING AND LOCKING .
- Using the screen, activate the calibration/adjustment on the wheel alignment computer.
