Rear Axle Steering Gear, Moving Into Zero Position, AUDI Q8
When the rear axle suspension is first installed at the "factory", the "check rear axle steering gear orientation" is "not necessary".
When the rear axle suspension is first installed at the "factory", the "check rear axle steering gear orientation" process is also "not possible" with the Locking Tool:T40326 .
The rear axle suspension test with the Locking Tool:T40326 is only possible and necessary if the rear axle suspension was installed by a service dealer.
This applies when a new rear axle suspension is installed "and" when a previously installed rear axle suspension is installed.
An angle up to 4.8° is still possible when the vehicle is stationary. Therefore, the rear axle steering gear must be brought into the zero position before an axle alignment or before calibrating any driver assistance systems.
- This is the only way to ensure that the rear axle steering is in the straight-ahead position.
