Heat Pump Valve Unit, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Initiate the A/C system basic setting through the Thermal Management Control Module -J1024- and open the power-activated valves through the stored routine "Extract, evacuate and fill the refrigerant circuit" using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit (Refrigerant R134a Servicing, Refrigerant Circuit, Working with A/C Service Station) or Working with A/C Service Station (1 Of 2) / Working with A/C Service Station (2 Of 2) .
-- Remove the left front wheel housing liner. Refer to the appropriate service information (for accessibility to the connection points shown).
-- Remove the front noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
-- Clean the refrigerant lines at the connecting points -A, B, C, D, F, L, M-.
Danger or frostbite due to refrigerant coming out under pressure.
Frostbite on the skin and other parts of the body is possible.
- Wear safety gloves.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Evacuate or drain refrigerant and open the refrigerant circuit immediately.
- If more than 10 minutes elapse after extracting or draining the refrigerant and the refrigerant circuit was not opened, extract or drain the refrigerant again. Pressure develops in the refrigerant circuit due to evaporation.
-- Remove the bolts -H- at the connecting points -A, B, C, D, F, L, M- of the refrigerant lines.
-- Remove the refrigerant line with check valve -G-.
-- Remove the refrigerant lines -A, B, C, D- from the valve block.
-- Disconnect the connector -2-.
-- Release the catches -arrows-, remove the coolant expansion tank -1- and move to the side.
-- Free up the refrigerant line -2- and cable -3-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-, and remove the coolant expansion tank bracket -1-.
-- Disconnect the connector -C- for the valve block.
-- Remove the bolt -B-.
-- Remove the nuts -A- (with washer).
-- Remove the valve block with bracket -D-.
