Radiator, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the front noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
Vehicles with Radiator Shutter
-- Remove the radiator shutter. Refer to RADIATOR SHUTTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Remove the impact member. Refer to OVERVIEW - LOCK CARRIER .
-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .
Vehicles without High-Voltage System
-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray:VAS6208 underneath.
There is a risk of injury if the radiator fan turns on by itself.
- When performing procedures near the radiator maintain a distance to the radiator.
-- Release and disconnect the connector -1- from the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on Radiator Outlet -G83-.
Ignore -item 2-.
-- Lift the clamp -3-.
-- Remove the right coolant hose at the bottom of the radiator and drain the rest of the coolant.
Vehicles with High-Voltage System
-- Disconnect the connector -1-.
-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray:VAS6208 underneath.
There is a risk of injury if the radiator fan turns on by itself.
- When performing procedures near the radiator maintain a distance to the radiator.
-- Lift the clip -arrow-, remove the lower right coolant hose from the radiator and drain the remaining coolant.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Release and disconnect the connectors -1 and 2- for the radiator fan.
There is a risk of injury if the radiator fan turns on by itself.
- When performing procedures near the radiator maintain a distance to the radiator.
-- Remove the upper and side air ducts. Refer to AIR DUCTS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Vehicles without High-Voltage System
-- Release and disconnect the connector -2- for the High Pressure Sensor -G65-.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
Risk of destroying the radiator. If the catches are damaged, the radiator must be replaced.
Risk of damaging the refrigerant lines and hoses. Do not bend, twist or stretch the refrigerant lines and hoses.
Risk of damaging the refrigerant lines and hoses by removing and pivoting the A/C compressor.
- Do not bend, twist or stretch the refrigerant lines and hoses.
-- Release the left and right catches in direction of -arrows- disengage the condenser -1- from the radiator and tie up to the side with the left air duct,
Vehicles with High-Voltage System
-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray:VAS6208 underneath.
-- Loosen the hose clamps -1 and 2- to remove the coolant hoses from the high-voltage system cooling circuit radiator.
-- Release the left and right catches in direction of -arrows- and remove the radiator for the high-voltage coolant circuit.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Lift the clamps -1 and 2-, remove and free up the coolant connection from the radiator.
-- Release the left and right catches in direction of -arrows- and remove the retaining pin -1- for the radiator upward.
-- Remove the lower pressure pipe. Refer to PRESSURE PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- on the left and right.
-- Remove the radiator forward together with the fan shroud.
-- Remove the fan shroud from the radiator. To do this, press the locking tabs in direction of -arrow A- on the left and right side. Lift the fan shroud upward in direction of -arrow B-.
