Preparations, Checking Lumbar Support Air Cushion And Seat Bolster Inflation Adjuster For Leaks
- If a corresponding entry in the DTC memory, there is a prompt in"Guided Fault Finding" to replace the faulty lumbar support air cushion using the :VAS6618A/10 using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
- Then the preparations for this leak test are described that must be carried out directly in the seat.
- Connection diagram with assignment of the pneumatic lines to the air cushions. Refer to CONNECTION DIAGRAM - PNEUMATIC SYSTEM .
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
- Pneumatic Repair Set :VAS6618 A
Procedure
- The backrest cover is removed. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Before disconnecting, mark the allocation of the pneumatic lines to each other using a waterproof felt-tip pen.
Connection diagram, Super Sport seat:
-- Disconnect the pneumatic line that runs to the faulty air cushion at the location marked with the -arrow-.
- Wiring connectors applied as an addition may not be opened another time.
- If a pneumatic line at a seat must be disconnected, and a wiring connector was already placed on it at an earlier time, then the new wiring connector must be set approximately 30 mm away from the existing separating point.
To identify them more easily, the pneumatic lines are shown in color in the illustration and the table. The actual lines are not this color on all seats.

-- To connect, connect the connector sleeves from the :VAS6618A to the pneumatic lines.
- To connect, insert the pneumatic lines in the :VAS6618A/2 from both sides -A arrows-.
- To release, push the release rings -B arrows- and simultaneously remove pneumatic lines -C arrows-.
-- Connect the : VAS6618A/10 on the line to the air cushion.

The illustration shows checking the right seat bolster on a Super Sport seat.
