Electrical A/C Compressor, Replacing Without Needing To Clean Refrigerant Circuit: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Commercially available scale up to 10 kg

If an A/C compressor is replaced that did not have mechanical damage, but rather for another complaint such as an electrical fault or outer damage, the refrigerant circuit does not have to be cleaned.

-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, DISCHARGING .

-- Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING (vehicle-specific repair information).

-- Weigh and note the weight of the old A/C compressors without plugs or such components which are not included in the delivery package of the new A/C compressor.

-- Weigh the new A/C compressor without the plug and bolts and note the weight.

-- Pour as much refrigerant oil out of the new A/C compressor via the HD and ND connection in a clean container until the weight of the old A/C compressor is reached.

NOTE:

If clean refrigerant oil is emptied from a new A/C compressor in a clean container and this is closed air tight, this can be reused to adjust the refrigerant oil quantity in the circuit.

If not enough refrigerant oil can be poured out of the A/C compressor to reach the weight of the old A/C compressor (up to an additional weight of XXXX g), then the old and new A/C compressor must be flushed out. This the residual amount of the refrigerant oil in the A/C compressor is determined and adapted. Refer to A/C Compressor Flushing .
