Brake Shield, Removing And Installing, TTRS And Ceramic Brakes: Installing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:

NOTE:

Clean bolts before reusing.

Replace damaged bolts.

Always replace self-locking bolts.

-- Clean the brake shield and the wheel hub.

-- Insert the shield -1- and tighten -arrows-.

-- Install the corresponding brake rotor. Refer to BRAKE ROTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TTRS AND CERAMIC BRAKES .

CAUTION:

If brake pads are ceramics, wheel must not fall on brake rotor, otherwise it will be irreparably damaged. To install/remove wheel, install two assembly pins from vehicle tool kit in mounts on wheel bolts. The long assembly pin is in the upper position.

-- Install the front wheel. Refer to Wheels and Tires .

WARNING:

After installing the brake caliper check that the spring and brake pads for correct seating. Refer to BRAKE PAD RETAINING PLATE .

WARNING:

Risk of accident!

  • With the vehicle stationary, firmly press the brake pedal several times so that the brake pads in the operating condition properly sit in their respective position.
  • Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
