-- Pay attention to the safety precautions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
-- Move the front seats all the way forward.
-- Switch off the ignition.
TT Coupe:
-- Remove the rear bench seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
TT Roadster:
-- Remove the left rear panel trim panel. Refer to REAR PANEL TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the left rear panel. Refer to the appropriate Service Information.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
Danger due to escaping fuel.
- To prevent large quantities of fuel from leaking when removing the fuel level sensor, the fuel tank may only be a maximum of 1 /4 full.
-- If required, drain the fuel tank. Refer to FUEL TANK, DRAINING .
-- Unclip the left sealing flange cover -1- at the tabs -arrows- using the : 3409 .
-- Unlock and disconnect the connector -1- on the BorgWarner clutch.
-- Depending on the version, disconnect the connector -2- on the sealing flange by unlocking the connector safety catch.
Danger due to escaping fuel.

-- Remove the locking ring using the : T10202 .
-- Remove the sealing flange and seal at the fuel tank opening.
-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank, release the connector retainer -arrow- and disconnect the connector -1-.
-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank, release the connector safety catches -A arrows- and press the connector -1- out of the retainer -arrow B-.
-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank, release the latch -2- on the tab and remove the Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169- upward at the same time -arrow C-.
