Fuel Tank, Draining
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Trim Removal Wedge: 3409
- Fuel Extractor: VAS5190A
- Fuel Extraction - Adapter Set: VAS5190/10
- Emergency refueling funnel from the vehicle tool kit
Procedure
-- Observe the safety instructions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
-- Move the front seats all the way forward.
-- Switch off the ignition.
-- Open the fuel filler door.
-- Insert the emergency refueling funnel -1- from the vehicle tool kit all the way into the filler neck -arrow-.
TT Coupe:
-- Remove the rear bench seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
TT Roadster:
-- Remove the right rear panel trim panel. Refer to REAR PANEL TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the right rear panel. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Unclip the right sealing flange cover -1- at the tabs -arrows- using the : 3409 .
The fuel system is under pressure.
Risk of injury from fuel spraying out.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Wear safety gloves.
- Reduce the pressure: place clean cloths around the connection point and carefully open the connection point.
-- Disconnect the fuel line -arrow- from the sealing flange. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .
-- Connect the suction hose with subtable adapter -1- from the : VAS5190 /10 on the sealing flange supply connection.
-- Use the : VAS5190A to drain the fuel tank through the sealing flange supply connection.
TT Roadster:
Danger due to escaping fuel.
- To prevent large quantities of fuel from leaking out when removing the fuel delivery unit, the fuel tank and the fuel delivery unit must be empty.
