Overview - Timing Chain Cover, Engine With Two Camshaft Adjusters

1. O-Ring
   • Replace after removing.
   • Lubricate with engine oil
2. Oil Dipstick Tube
3. Bolt
   • 9 Nm
4. Bolt
   • Tightening sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
5. Bolt
   • Steel bolt 9 Nm
   • Aluminum bolt 4 Nm +45°
   • Replace the aluminum bolt after removal
6. Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205-
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Replace the O-ring -item  ) O-Rings.
7. Bolt
   • Steel bolt 9 Nm
   • Aluminum bolt 4 Nm +45°
   • Replace the aluminum bolt after removal
8. Exhaust Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N318-
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Replace the O-ring -item  ) O-Rings.
9. Seals
   • Replace after removing.
   • Coat with oil before assembly
10. Seal
    • Replace if damaged
11. Filler Neck
    • Installed, depending on the version
12. Seal
    • Replace if damaged
    • Installed, depending on the version
13. Cap
14. Upper Timing Chain Cover
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, ENGINE WITH TWO CAMSHAFT ADJUSTERS .
15. Seal
    • Replace if damaged
16. O-Rings
    • Replace after removing.
    • Coat with engine oil
17. Alignment Pin
    • For the lower timing chain cover
    • Quantity: 2
18. Bolt
    • With 15 bolts. Refer to Fig 3.
    • With 8 bolts. Refer to Fig 4.
    • Replace after removing.
19. Lower Timing Chain Cover
    • Replacing. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REPLACING .
20. Seal
    • For the vibration damper
    • Replacing. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER SEAL, REPLACING .
21. Plugs
    • Replace after removing.

Upper Timing Chain Cover - Tightening Specifications and Sequence

-- Tighten the bolts -1 to 6- in the sequence shown to 9 Nm.

Lower Timing Chain Cover with 15 Bolts - Tightening Specification and Sequence

• Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.

-- Tighten the bolts in the steps shown in the sequence:
