Front Seat, Removing And Installing, Manual/Power: Installing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
WARNING:
  • Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
  • Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by briefly touching the door striker pin, for example.

Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:

-- Remove the : VAS 6282  only after installing the front seat. Refer to AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING .

NOTE:

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way and engage audibly.

-- Connect the connectors to the couplings of the connector station in the floor.

-- Align the front seat inside the vehicle and tighten the front bolts -2- on the seat rail.

-- Move the front seat all the way forward into its highest position.

-- Install the rear bolts -1- on the seat rail and tighten then.

WARNING:

The ignition must be on when connecting the battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone in the vehicle interior when connecting the battery.

-- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

WARNING:

Repairing pyrotechnic components (for example the airbag and seat belt tensioner) incorrectly increases the risk of injuries due to unintentional deployments when the ignition is switched on.

  • If the ignition is not switched on after the battery is reconnected - >>indicator lamps in the instrument cluster do not light up<< - the ignition (key/button) may only be switched on when the driver seat is positioned all the way back.
NOTE:

If the Airbag Indicator Lamp -K75- indicates a fault, check the DTC memory, erase it and check it again using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
