- Airbag Lockout Adapter: VAS6282
Disconnecting the Airbag Connector
-- Move the front seat all the way to the rear and then into its highest position.
-- Remove the cover and fold up the opening in the carpet.
-- Unclip the cable holder -1-.
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker pin, for example.
-- Disconnect the connector -4- for the side airbag from the connector station, to do this release the tabs.

-- Connect the Airbag Lockout Adapter : VAS6282 to the side airbag connector.
The : VAS6282 must stay connected to seat until the seat is installed again.
Ensure airbag adapter engages correctly.

Connecting the airbag connectors happens in reverse order, noting the following:
Make sure the connectors are installed all the way and engage audibly.
The ignition must be on when connecting the battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
-- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
Repairing pyrotechnic components (for example the airbag and seat belt tensioner) incorrectly increases the risk of injuries due to unintentional deployments when the ignition is switched on.
- If the ignition is not switched on after the battery is reconnected - >>indicator lamps in the instrument cluster do not light up<< - the ignition (key/button) may only be switched on when the driver seat is positioned all the way back.
If the Airbag Indicator Lamp -K75- indicates a fault, check the DTC memory, erase it and check it again using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
