Cylinder Head, Removing And Installing: Removing
- During installation, all cable ties and heat shields must be installed at the same location.
-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Remove the right drive axle heat shield. Refer to DRIVE AXLE HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2-.
-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows- and remove the air duct pipe.
-- Place a cloth underneath to catch any escaping coolant and engine oil.
-- Remove the bolts and remove the lines from the cylinder block.
- For the oil return
- For the Coolant Supply
- For the Oil Supply
-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the : VAS6122 .
-- Disconnect the fuel supply line -1-. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .
-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the : VAS6122 .
-- Remove the hose -2- for the EVAP system.
-- Free up the wiring harness.
-- Remove the intake manifold lower section. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD LOWER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the camshaft housing. Refer to CAMSHAFT HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the catalytic converter from the turbocharger and tie up toward the rear. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- and disconnect the coolant line.
-- Loosen and remove the cylinder head bolts in the sequence -19 to 1-.
- The help of a second technician is required for the following step.
-- Slightly lift the cylinder head on the belt pulley side slightly and disconnect the connectors -arrows- for the FSI fuel injectors.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- for the Engine Temperature Control Sensor -G694-.
-- Remove the cylinder head.
Risk of destroying the engine.
- To prevent small parts from accidentally entering the engine through the opening in the timing chain case, seal the opening with a clean cloth.
There is a risk of damaging the cylinder walls.
- To prevent sealant residue from going in between the cylinder wall and the piston, seal the cylinder with clean cloths.
