Seat Pan Cover And Cushion, Removing And Installing, Standard Seat: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
- Pay attention to the safety precautions for the passenger occupant detection system for versions that have that system. Refer to ADDITIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR WORKING ON SEAT OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM FOR FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG DEACTIVATION, MARKET-SPECIFIC VERSION .
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Secure the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture :VAS 6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Equipment level with storage compartment: remove the storage compartment. Refer to STORAGE COMPARTMENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the tunnel-side seat side trim. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON TUNNEL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the seat side trim and bracket for the seat side trim on side sill.
- Front manual seat. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON SIDE SILL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL FRONT SEAT .
- Power Front Seat. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON SIDE SILL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER FRONT SEAT .
-- Versions with child seat anchor: remove the child seat anchor. Refer to FRONT CHILD SEAT ANCHOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- If equipped: free up the seat heating wiring harness from the seat pan. Refer to FRONT SEAT WIRE ROUTING .
-- Remove the front backrest. Refer to FRONT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Detach the molding -1- from the cover in the front and side areas using the Backrest Panel Tool :3370 .
-- Detach the cover molding -2- in the rear area using the Backrest Panel Tool :3370 .
-- Carefully disengage the cushion -1- with cover -2- at the rear of the seat pan -arrows-.
-- Remove the cover and cushion from the seat pan, while doing so if necessary free up the seat heating wiring harness.
Passenger seat, country specific:
Never disconnect the connector -3- from the Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706-.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- on the control module
-- Free up the seat occupant sensor wire from the seat pan.
-- Guide the control module -1- through the opening -arrow- in the seat pan and remove with the seat cushion.
