Front Seat Wire Routing
Individual Wire, Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Secure the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture: VAS 6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the rear bracket for the wire routing from the seat pan with a screwdriver.
-- Separate the cable holder -2 and 5- and cable tie -3 and 4-.
Replacing a faulty wire or thorax airbag. Refer to WIRING HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS, REPAIRING or Refer to FRONT THORAX AIRBAG WITH IGNITER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the single wire from the protective cover -1-.
Modular Wire Routing:
-- Remove the rear bracket for the wire routing from the seat pan with a screwdriver.
-- Remove the cable holder -3 and 5- for the corrugated tube, to do this open the bracket.
-- Remove the wire -2- from the corrugated tube -1 and 4-.
Replacing a faulty wire or thorax airbag. Refer to WIRING HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS, REPAIRING or Refer to FRONT THORAX AIRBAG WITH IGNITER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Cut through the cable tie and remove the individual wire.
Individual Wire, Installing

- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting a connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
- Follow all the instructions when installing the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
-- When bundling and placing individual wires, make sure the wires are not twisted.
When installing, position all cable ties, cable holders and clips in same position.
Make sure the connectors are installed all the way and engage audibly.
