Backrest Cover And Cushion, Removing And Installing, Super Sport Seat: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Secure the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture :VAS 6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, SUPER-SPORT SEAT .
-- Remove the tunnel-side seat side trim. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON TUNNEL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the seat side trim on the side sill side. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON SIDE SILL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL FRONT SEAT .
-- Free up the wiring harness for the thorax airbag and the backrest heating (depending on the version) from the seat pan. Refer to FRONT SEAT WIRE ROUTING .
-- Remove the front backrest. Refer to FRONT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Open the cover -1- from the Velcro fasteners -arrow-.
-- Disengage the cover -2- from the clamping profile catches -1 and 3-.
-- Disengage the cushion tabs -1- from the catches.
-- Disengage and remove the clamping profile -2- from the backrest frame.
-- Disengage the lower cover -1- from the backrest hinge -arrows-.
-- Pull the cover tabs -1 and 3- upward -arrows- and disengage the molding -2- on the cover.
-- Detach the lower moldings -4- from the backrest frame.
-- Disengage the cover moldings -1 and 2- from the backrest frame.
-- Disengage the cushion -1- with cover -2- at the lower section of the backrest -arrows-.
-- Carefully loosen the cushion from the backrest frame and pull as far forward as possible.
-- Remove the front thorax airbag. Refer to FRONT THORAX AIRBAG WITH IGNITER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Loosen the cushion at shoulder height from the adhesive strips on the backrest frame.
-- Push the release button -4- in the headrest guide and hold.
-- Pull the headrest -3- with cushion and cover upward from the headrest guide -arrow-.
-- Remove the cushion -1- and cover -2- from the backrest frame, depending on the version guide the wiring harness for the backrest heating.
