Rear Final Drive, Removing And Installing, AUDI Q3: Removing

-- Remove the spare wheel, if equipped.

-- Remove the spare wheel well or foam insert.

-- Remove the plugs -1- in the underbody.

-- Remove the bolts through the newly made openings.

-- Remove the rear stabilizer bar. Refer to Stabilizer Bar, Removing And Installing .

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- and remove the exhaust pipe bracket from the subframe.

-- Separate the exhaust system at the clamping sleeve -arrow- and remove the rear section of the exhaust system. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER (2.0L 4V TFSI Engine; EA 888 Generation II, As of 01.2018), OVERVIEW - MUFFLER (2.0L 4V TFSI Engine; EA 888 Generation III, As Of 12.2017), or OVERVIEW - MUFFLER (2.0L 4V TFSI Engine; EA 888 Generation II, As of 09.2016) .

-- Tie up the front exhaust pipe.

-- Remove the noise insulation -1-. Refer to Noise Insulation, Removing And Installing .

-- Remove the pendulum support bolts -2 and 3-.

-- Disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the Left Rear Level Control System Sensor -G76- and lay them on the control arm.

-- Loosen the rear covers for the inner left and right underbody. Refer to UNDERBODY TRIM PANEL .

-- Loosen, but do not remove, the driveshaft center bearing bolts -arrows-.

-- Press the engine and transmission forward and secure the position with a suitable piece of wood -A-.

-- Make sure there is a marking (a color dot) on the flexible disc and the driveshaft flange on the rear final drive -arrows-.

-- If the marking is not there, then mark the position of the flexible disc to the driveshaft flange on the rear final drive.

-- Mark the position of the driveshaft with respect to the flange on the bevel gear.

-- To loosen the driveshaft bolts, counterhold with the : T10172A  and the : T10172/5  on the rear final drive.

-- Loosen, but do not remove, the rear driveshaft bolts.

-- Remove the driveshaft bolts -arrows- on the rear final drive.

-- Remove the driveshaft from the final drive, and guide it upward in the center until it is under the fuel tank -2-. In this position, support the crossbrace -1- using a suitable piece of wood.

-- Loosen the bolt -arrow- on the front bonded rubber bushing 5 turns, but do not remove it.

-- Disconnect the left drive axle from the final drive.

-- Lift the final drive -A- in the rear -arrow 1- and push it as far as possible to the right -arrow 2-.

-- Remove the left drive axle -B- from the flange and carefully lower it.

-- Move the final drive back to the installed position.

-- Disconnect the right drive axle from the final drive.

-- Lift the final drive -A- in the rear -arrow 1- and push it as far as possible to the left -arrow 2-.

-- Remove the right drive axle -B- from the flange and carefully lower it.

-- Move the final drive back to the installed position.

-- Support the final drive using the : VAS6931  with the mounting plate and secure with the strap.

-- Completely remove the bolt -arrow- on the front bonded rubber bushing.

-- Remove the upper washer -C- from the bonded rubber bushing.

-- Tilt the final drive at an angle with the : VAS6931  and lower it slightly, as shown in the illustration.

-- Disconnect the connector -1- on the All Wheel Drive Control Module -J492-.

Vehicles with Final Drive 0BS and All Wheel Drive Clutch IV

Vehicles with Final Drive 0AY and 0CR and All Wheel Drive Clutch V

All Vehicles 

-- Remove the bleeder hoses -1 and 2- from the subframe.

-- To remove, lower final drive more and pull forward, ensuring there is sufficient clearance to other components.
