Oil Pan Upper Section, Removing And Installing: Installing

NOTE: Replace seals, gaskets and O-rings.

CAUTION:

Risk of contaminating the lubricating system.

Cover open parts of engine.

WARNING:

Danger of eye injury.

Wear protective eyewear.

-- Remove sealant residue on the upper section of the oil pan and the cylinder block, for example using a rotating plastic brush.

-- Clean the sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.

NOTE: Note the expiration date of the sealing compound.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: about 3 mm).

-- Insert the seals -1 and 2- into the oil pan upper section.

CAUTION:

The lubrication system could be plugged with excess sealant.

Do not apply sealant bead thicker than specified.

-- Apply the sealant beads -arrows- to the clean sealing surface on the upper section of the oil pan as shown in the illustration.

Completely fill the grooves on the sealing surfaces with sealant.
The sealant beads must be placed 3.5 mm above the sealing surface.

NOTE: Install the upper section of the oil pan within five minutes of applying the sealant.

-- Position the oil pan upper section and tighten the bolts.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install the left rear coolant pipes, refer to LEFT REAR COOLANT PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the oil pump, refer to Installing .

-- Install the belt pulley side sealing flange, refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .

-- Install the oil pump drive chain and the high pressure pump, refer to OIL PUMP AND HIGH PRESSURE PUMP DRIVE CHAIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the timing chain cover lower section, refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
