Crankshaft Seal, Replacing, Transmission Side: Procedure
- Transmission removed, refer to Transmission Park Selector SwitchF305, Removing and Installing .
-- Remove the drive plate, refer to Removing .
-- Pry out the shaft seal using Puller - Crankshaft/Power Steering Seal T20143/2.
-- Clean the running and sealing surface.
-- Insert the Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Assembly Tool T10122/1 on the Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Guide Piece T10122/6 and push the shaft seal -A- on the guide piece.
-- Remove the Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Assembly Tool T10122/1.
-- Position the Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Guide Piece T10122/6 on the crankshaft.
-- Attach the Guide Piece through the mounting points -A- with the bolts -arrows- on the crankshaft.
There is a rick of leaks due to incorrect assembly.
- To prevent the shaft seal sealing lip from rolling onto itself, insert the shaft seal by hand on the crankshaft.
-- Push the shaft seal by hand using the Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Guide Piece T10122/6 on the crankshaft.
-- Press shaft seal in evenly all around with Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Thrust Sleeve T10122/5 until flush.
-- Remove the Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Guide Piece T10122/6.
-- Check the shaft seal as well as the sealing lip for correct seating. If the sealing lip are partially turned repeat the procedure with a new shaft seal.
-- Install the drive plate, refer to Installing .
