Axle Alignment Information
Wheel alignment must only performed using VW/Audi-approved wheel alignment equipment.
Each time wheels are aligned, both front and rear wheels must be aligned.
Otherwise, proper vehicle driveability cannot be ensured.
If the vehicle (Sedan/Wagon) has RHD and standard suspension (1BA), then check and adjust the camber on the front axle according to the height of the vehicle, refer to SEDAN/AVANT FRONT AXLE WITH RHD AND STANDARD SUSPENSION, DETERMINING THE CAMBER VALUE 1BA .
Axle alignment should not be performed until the vehicle has been driven 1, 000 to 2, 000 km (621 to 1242 miles), since it takes this long for the suspension to settle.
The individual specifications should be followed as exactly as possible when making adjustments.
Before performing an axle alignment on a vehicle with air suspension, check the curb weight or control position and adapt it again if necessary, refer to AXLE ALIGNMENT CONTROL POSITION ON VEHICLES WITH AIR SUSPENSION, CHECKING .
If the vehicle has ESP or ABS, calibrate the Steering Angle Sensor -G85- after making any adjustments on the suspension using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
The suspension components could be damaged.
If the subframe mount, the steering gear or the subframe crossbrace are not installed correctly, do not rest the vehicle on its wheels.
The vehicle must not be supported on the subframe or the subframe crossbrace (for example using a floor jack).
All bolts and nuts must be tightened properly before driving the vehicle!
There is a risk of injury if the engine starts automatically in vehicles with the Start/Stop System.
- For vehicles with an activated Start/Stop System (recognizable from a notification in the instrument cluster), the motor can be started automatically if needed.
- Make sure that the start/stop system is deactivated when working on the vehicle (turn off the ignition, turn on the ignition when necessary).
