Charge Air Cooler, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With Two Turbochargers: Removing

NOTE:

Follow all the rules of cleanliness. Refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Remove the bumper cover end plate. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the lock carrier cover. Refer to LOCK CARRIER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and air guide -1-.

NOTE:

Ignore -item 2-.

-- Remove the left and right air intake grille -1-. Refer to AIR INTAKE GRILLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, AUDI A7/S7 FROM MY 2015 .

WARNING:

There is a risk of injury if the radiator fan turns on by itself.

Disconnect the connectors before working near the fan shroud.

-- Unclip and remove air ducts -1, and 2-.

-- Remove the front noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

NOTE:

Collect escaping coolant in a clean container for disposal or reuse.

-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray :VAS6208 under engine.

-- Remove the drain plug -1- and drain the coolant.

-- Lift the clip -2- and disconnect the coolant hose from the radiator.

-- Release the left and right radiator retaining pins and remove by pulling upward -arrows-.

-- Remove bolt -1- and swivel the radiator console with the radiator on the right side slightly forward. -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- and remove the radiator console -1-.

-- Move the radiator back into its installed position, inset the left and right bolts for the radiator -arrows-.

-- Remove the air guide hose from the charge air cooler by loosening the hose clamp -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolt -1-.

-- Remove the air guide hose from the charge air cooler by loosening the hose clamp -1-.

-- Push the lock downward -arrow A- and move the charge air cooler upward slightly in -direction of arrow B-.

-- Disengage the charge air cooler from above.

-- Remove the charge air cooler. When doing this pay attention to the left air duct.
