Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve -N276-, CHECKING

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Audi A7 Quattro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Procedure

WARNING:

Danger of malfunction caused by dirt.

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Hold the fuel return hose -1- in a measuring container.

-- Start the engine and let it idle for a one minute:

-- Let the engine idle longer.

-- While the engine is running, empty the measuring container or switch it with an empty measuring container and start to measure.

-- Let the engine idle for 2 minutes then measure the return quantity.

NOTE:

If the specified values are attained, then the Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve -N276- is functioning properly.

If Specified Values Are Not Attained

NOTE:

The Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve -N276- and the fuel injectors were checked with the previous measurements.

To find out which component is faulty, the fuel injector return quantity must be measured.

-- Measure the fuel injector return quantity with the engine running. Refer to FUEL INJECTORS, CHECKING RETURN QUANTITY WITH ENGINE RUNNING .

-- If the fuel injector return quantity is ok, then replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve -N276-.

-- If the fuel injector return quantity is not ok, then replace the faulty fuel injector.

Fuel System, Bleeding and Checking for Leaks

-- Let the engine run a few minutes at idle without pressing the accelerator pedal and then stop the engine. The fuel system bleeds itself.

-- Check the entire fuel supply system for leaks.

Replace any leaking parts.

-- Perform a road test where the accelerator pedal is pressed all the way down at least one time. Then check the high pressure area again for leaks.

-- Install the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

NOTE:

If there is still air in the fuel system, the engine may switch to emergency mode during the road test. Turn off the engine and erase the DTC memory. Then continue the road test.
