Overview - Steering Gear, Hydraulic Steering Gear
NOTE:
Replace the self-locking nuts and bolts.
Welding or straighten work on any steering components is not permissible.
To grease the rack, only use Power Steering Gear Grease.
- Tie Rod End
- Removing and Installing. Refer to TIE ROD END, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Check the dust caps for damage and correct seating
- If the tie rod end is bent and must be replaced, the control arm on this side of the vehicle is also damaged and must be replaced.
- Nut
- 60 Nm
- Spring Clamp
- Always replace if removed
- Version. Refer to the Parts information
- Boot
- Check for damage
- Must not be twisted when toe is being adjusted
- Replacing. Refer to HYDRAULIC STEERING GEAR BOOT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Clamp
- Always replace if removed
- Clamping Sleeves, Installing. Refer to Clamping Sleeves, Installing .
- Tie Rod
- 105 Nm
- Removing and Installing. Refer to HYDRAULIC STEERING GEAR TIE ROD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Grease the joint with Power Steering Gear Grease
- If the tie rod is bent and must be replaced, the control arm on this side of the vehicle is also damaged and must be replaced.
- Power Steering Gear
- Removing and Installing. Refer to HYDRAULIC STEERING GEAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Grease the steering rack with Power Steering Gear Grease
- There are different versions. Refer to the Parts information.

- Servotronic Solenoid Valve -N119-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to Servotronic Solenoid Valve -N119-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- The following values can be selected on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester:
- Speed signal
- Power supply from the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519-
- Solenoid Valve -- status
- measured current for Solenoid Valve -- control
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester and select Fault Finding with "Functions/Component selection".
-- Then "body".

- Always follow the bolt tightening sequence.
