Overview - Muffler

- Center Muffler
- Original equipment as one unit with rear mufflers. For repairs, replace each separately
- To remove on the Audi A5 Cabriolet/Sportback, remove the diagonal braces. Refer to Fig 5
- Separating point. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS, SEPARATING .
- Exhaust system, installing without tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Rear Muffler
- Original equipment as one unit with center muffler and tailpipe
- In case of repairs, center muffler end muffler and tailpipe should be replaced individually
- To remove on the Audi A5 Cabriolet/Sportback, remove the diagonal braces. Refer to Fig 5
- Separating point between the center and rear muffler. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS, SEPARATING .
- Separating point between the rear muffler and the tailpipe. Refer to TAIL PIPES, REPLACING .
- Exhaust system, installing without tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .

- Protect from shocks and impact stress
- Removing and installing. Refer to LEFT CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for left side and RIGHT CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for right side.
- Individual components of suspension. Refer to Fig 4

- With decoupling element, decoupling element must not be bent more than 10° - otherwise it may be damaged
- Removing and installing. Refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Exhaust system, installing without tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Front Clamping Sleeve
- Installed position. Refer to Fig 2
- Before tightening, align exhaust system free of tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Tighten threaded connections evenly.

-- Remove the Y-pipe and the diagonal braces for the rear muffler -1 and 2-.
-- Install the diagonal braces. Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME .
