Dual Mass Flywheel Needle Bearing, SACHS And LUK: Notes

NOTE:

Replacing the needle bearing and the shaft seal on a Sachs clutch is identical to a LuK clutch.
If the surface of the input shaft is visibly damaged near the needle bearing in the dual mass flywheel -arrow-, then replace both the input shaft and the needle bearing.

Depending on the version, there are different needle bearings installed in the dual mass flywheel.

Needle bearing that have rollers
Needle bearings, that have every 4th roller missing -arrows- does not mean the needle bearing is faulty.

Needle bearings is missing the 4th roller must be replaced on 4-cylinder TDI vehicles (except 125 kW TDI).
On all other vehicles, the missing 4th roller is not a defect in the needle bearing. Do not replace the needle bearing!
New needle bearings are equipped with rollers.
