Crankshaft, Measuring Radial Clearance

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required

Plastigauge^®

NOTE:

Use Old Bolts To Measure Radial Play.

-- Remove the guide frame and clean the bearing journals.

-- Place the Plastigauge^® over the entire width of the bearing journal or into the bearing shells.

Plastigauge^® must rest in center of bearing shell.

-- Position the guide frame and tighten it with an additional turn; do not turn the crankshaft. Refer to GUIDE FRAME TIGHTENING SEQUENCE AND SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Install the guide frame.

-- Compare width of Plastigauge^® with calibrated scale.

Radial clearance:

New S6/S7: 0.017 to 0.044 mm.
New RS6/RS7: 0.017 to 0.033 mm.
Wear limit: 0.08 mm.

-- Replace bolts for the final assembly.
