Transmission Fluid Level, Checking: Procedure

NOTE:
Follow the general repair instructions. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .
Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
Do not exchange the transmission (MTF) chamber with the ATF chamber.
Replace the sealing plug for the inspection and fill hole.
- Transmission fluid temperature at about 20 °C (68 °F) (room temperature).
- Move vehicle onto a four-pillar shop hoist or over a work pit so that it is absolutely horizontal.
- The transmission must be still for at least 15 minutes to make sure the oil settles internally.
WARNING:
Danger of eye injury.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- Remove the sealing plug -arrow- from the inspection and fill hole on the right side of the transmission housing.
- The manual transmission fluid (MTF) must be 2 mm from the lower edge of the inspection and fill hole.
-- If the oil level is not correct, fill the transmission fluid. Refer to FILLING .
