Oil Pan Upper Section, Removing And Installing: Installing

• Tightening specifications, refer to OVERVIEW - OIL PAN/OIL PUMP .

-- Remove sealant residue on the upper section of the oil pan and the cylinder block, for example using a rotating plastic brush.

-- Clean the sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: about 1.5 mm).

-- Apply a sealant bead -arrow- to the clean sealing surface on the upper section of the oil pan as shown in the illustration.

• Completely fill the grooves on the sealing surfaces with sealant.
• The sealant bead must be 1.5 to 2.0 mm above the sealing surface.

-- Insert the seal -1- and the O-ring -2- in the guide frame.

-- Position the oil pan upper section and tighten the bolts, -- Tighten the bolts in 2 stages in a diagonal sequence as follows:-- Pre-tighten to 5 Nm.-- Tighten an additional 90°.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install the oil pump, refer to OIL PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the lower timing chain cover, refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Fill the engine oil and check the oil level, refer to ENGINE OIL LEVEL, FILLING AND CHECKING .
