Overview - Oil Pan/Oil Pump

CAUTION:

Danger of catalytic converter damage.

  • The oil level must not exceed the "MAX" marking.
NOTE:

If large quantities of metal particles or abraded material are detected during engine repairs, it may mean the crankshaft or rod bearings are damaged. To prevent damage, perform the following steps after completing the repair: carefully clean the oil channels and replace the oil spray jets, the oil cooler and the oil filter  .

Oil capacities, specifications and viscosity classes, refer to 03 MAINTENANCE, DIAGNOSIS .

Oil injector jet for piston cooling, refer to Fig 1.

  1. Nut
    • Tightening specification: 9 Nm
  2. Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-
  3. Seal
    • Replace
  4. Oil Pan Lower Section
  5. Bolt
    • Tightening specification: 9 Nm
  6. Lower Oil Baffle
  7. Bolt
    • Tightening specification and sequence-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 6- for the upper oil pan section in 2 stages in a diagonal sequence as follows:-- Pre-tighten to 5 Nm.-- Tighten to 16 Nm..
  8. Oil Pan Upper Section
  9. Alignment Sleeve
    • Quantity: 2
  10. O-Ring
    • Insert into guide frame
    • Replace
  11. Bolt
    • Tightening specification: 9 Nm
    • Install with locking compound. Allocate correct locking compound.
  12. Upper Oil Baffle
  13. Seal
    • Insert into guide frame
    • Replace
  14. Seal
    • Replace
  15. Bolt
    • Tightening specification: 9 Nm
  16. Engine Oil Cooler
  17. Bolt
    • Tightening specification: 9 Nm
  18. Oil Pump Driveshaft
  19. Pressure Spring
  20. Sleeve
    • Quantity: 2
  21. Mounting Bracket
  22. Bolt
    • Tightening specification: 9 Nm
  23. Chain Sprocket for Oil Pump
    • Can only be placed onto driveshaft in one position
  24. Bolt
    • Tightening specification: 30 Nm + 90° turn
    • Replace
    • To loosen, counterhold on sprocket with Wrench - Pin Type 3212.
  25. O-Ring
    • Replace
  26. Seal
    • Replace
  27. O-Ring
    • Replace
  28. Oil Pump
  29. Bolt
    • Tightening specification: 20 Nm
  30. Bolt
    • Replace
    • Tightening specification and sequence, -- Tighten the bolts in 2 stages in a diagonal sequence as follows:-- Pre-tighten to 5 Nm.-- Tighten an additional 90°.
  31. Seal
    • Replace
  32. Oil Drain Plug
    • Tightening specification: 30 Nm

NOTE:

Replace the bolts for the lower oil pan section -1-.

-- Tighten the bolts in 2 stages in a diagonal sequence as follows:-- Pre-tighten to 5 Nm.-- Tighten an additional 90°.

-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 6- for the upper oil pan section in 2 stages in a diagonal sequence as follows:-- Pre-tighten to 5 Nm.-- Tighten to 16 Nm.
