Overview - Power Steering Pump

NOTE:

Replace seals.

Do not reuse fluid you have drained.

Only use Hydraulic Fluid.

Bracket
Sleeve
- Drive the sleeve back slightly to install the power steering pump.
Bolt
- 23 Nm
- 20 Nm, this tightening specification applies only with the Wrench - Door Adjusting 3320
- To loosen and tighten, use the Wrench - Door Adjusting 3320 and the accompanying Wrench - Door Adjusting - Box Wrench 3320/2
Bolt
- Tightening specification, refer to RIBBED BELT DRIVE ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW -item 22-
Suction Hose
- The "P" marking on the suction hose -arrow- must align with the formed seam -arrow- on the power steering pump.
Clamp
- Tension using Hose Clip Pliers VAG1275A, refer to Figure
- Always replace if removed
Union Nut
- 38 Nm
Seal
- Always replace if removed
Pressure Line
CAUTION:
- Insert the pressure line completely when installing.
- Note the installation position: the angle between the line connection and the power steering pump axle must be approximately 88°.
- depending on the version, also mounted to the A/C compressor
Bolt
- 23 Nm
Belt pulley
Power Steering Pump
- Allocation, refer to parts.
- Fill with Hydraulic Fluid before installing
- Delivery pressure, checking, refer to POWER STEERING PUMP, CHECKING DELIVERY PRESSURE .
- Removing and installing, refer to REMOVING .
- Bleed the steering, refer to STEERING, BLEEDING AFTER REPLACING .
- Check hydraulic fluid level, refer to POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .
- Steering System, checking for leaks, refer to STEERING, CHECKING FOR LEAKS .

- 23 Nm
