OVERVIEW - VEHICLES WITH DYNAMIC STEERING, Vehicles with 4-Cylinder Diesel Engine

Power steering pump is not designed to be serviced. If there are customer complaints, the cause must be determined using a pressure and leak test. If there is a malfunction, replace the power steering pump.

NOTE:

If there is no fluid in the reservoir, then the steering system must always be checked for leaks.

If there are leaks in the area of the line connections, the lines/connections must first be inspected for leaks, tightened as necessary and wiped dry.

Power steering pump is delivered without oil. Therefore, Hydraulic Fluid must be filled before installation and turned by hand. Otherwise, noises when driving or damage to power steering pump may occur.

Mounting Strap
- Attach to body, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES, 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING .
Reservoir
- Note the installed position, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES, 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING .
- Hose line installation position to the reservoir, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
Cap with dip stick
- Fluid level, checking, refer to POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .

Spring Clamp
- Remove and install with Hose Clip Pliers VAG1921
Return Hose
- from the hydraulic oil cooler to the reservoir
- Mounting on longitudinal member, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES, 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING
- Note location on reservoir, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
- Note location on hydraulic oil cooler, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
Clip
Clamp
- Tension using Hose Clip Pliers VAG1275A, refer to Figure
- After installation, make sure it is correcting assembled, refer to Installation position of clamp (See Fig 2).
- Always replace if removed
Return Line
- from the power steering gear to the hydraulic oil cooler
  CAUTION:
  - Insert the return line completely when installing.
- Mounting on the subframe, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES, 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING .
- Note location on hydraulic oil cooler, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
- Installation location on the wiring connection, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
Seal
- Always replace if removed

Hydraulic Fluid Cooler
- Clipped to the condenser, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES, 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING .
- Removing and installing, refer to HYDRAULIC OIL COOLER, VEHICLES WITH DYNAMIC STEERING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Power Steering Gear
- Allocation, refer to parts.
- Removing and installing, refer to HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING GEAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

  CAUTION:
  - Insert the pressure line completely when installing.
- Mounting on crossbrace, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES, 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING .
- Wire connection installation location, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES, 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING .
Rubber Bushing

Pressure Line
- from the power steering pump to the power steering gear
  CAUTION:
  - Insert the pressure line completely when installing.
- Note the installation position: the angle between the line connection and the power steering pump axle must be approximately 90°.
- Union nut tightening specification: 38 Nm
- Mounting on engine mount, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES, 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING .
- Wire connection installation location, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES, 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING .

-- Close the clamp completely using the Hose Clip Pliers VAG1275A.

Do not exceed dimension -A- by 1 mm. If necessary, tighten the clamp with Hose Clip Pliers VAG1275A.
