Selector Lever Cable, Removing And Installing: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Tightening specifications, refer to OVERVIEW - SELECTOR LEVER CABLE .
Replace the O-ring on the selector lever cable.
Lubricate the cable eye and the ball socket on the selector lever cable with Polycarbamide Grease G 052 142 A2 before installing.
-- If equipped, slide the noise insulation -2- over the opening on the selector lever cable -3-.
-- Insert the O-ring -1- on the selector lever cable.
-- Install the selector lever cable -2- into the gearshift mechanism function unit -arrow-.
-- Secure the selector lever cable -2- with the circlip -3-.
- Installed position: the angled end of the circlip -1- faces the selector mechanism.
-- Install the noise insulation -2- (if equipped) with 4 new lock washers -1-.
-- Push the selector lever -1- on the transmission all the way to the back -arrow- until the parking lock locks into place.
When parking lock is engaged, it must not be possible to turn the front wheels.
-- Press the selector shaft lever forward three detents so the transmission is in "D".
-- Check whether the selector lever in the vehicle is in the "D/S" position.
-- Press the selector lever cable -1- onto the cable bracket -3-, if necessary, loosen both of the nuts slightly -2-.
-- Carefully press the selector lever cable ball socket -1- in this position onto the selector shaft lever -4-.
Do not bend selector shaft lever when pressing on, otherwise shift mechanism can no longer be adjusted exactly.
-- Secure the selector lever cable by fastening the two nuts -2- to the cable bracket.
Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
-- Check and adjust the selector lever cable, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .
-- Check the selector mechanism, refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, CHECKING .
