Procedure
- Tightening specifications, refer to OVERVIEW - TRANSMISSION DRAIN AND INSPECTION PLUG .
There is a risk of injury.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Wear acid-resistant safety gloves.
- Keep a safe distance away from the coolant fan when working near it because the fan can turn on by itself.
There is an accident risk if a gear is accidentally engaged while the engine is running!
- Before working on a running engine, move the selector lever into "P" and pull the parking brake button in order to set the electro-mechanical parking brake.
Danger of causing damage to the transmission.
- If there is only a little ATF or none at all left in the transmission after a repair or after heavy ATF leakage, engine must not be started.
- If only a small amount or no ATF is present after repair work or after significant ATF loss, fill the transmission with ATF.
- Only ATF available as a replacement part for the 8-speed automatic transmission 0BW Hybrid may be used.
- Using other fluids can cause malfunctions or transmission failure. Allocate correct fluids.
- The Oil Filler VAS6262A must be clean and ATF must not be mixed with another fluid!
-- Measure the length of the bleed pipe on the Oil Filler VAS6262A. Shorten it if necessary (See Figure).
-- Attach the Oil Filler - Jointed Hose VAS6262/5 on the Adapter For Oil Filling VAS6262A.
Conditions
- The engine is off.
- Move the vehicle onto a four-column shop hoist or over a work pit so it is completely level.
- The selector level is in "P".
- The parking brake button should be activated to close the electro-mechanical parking brake.
- Tightening specifications, refer to OVERVIEW - TRANSMISSION DRAIN AND INSPECTION PLUG .
-- Remove the rear noise insulation -2-, refer to REAR NOISE INSULATION .
-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit SMN372500 under the transmission.
-- Remove the ATF drain plug -arrow B- and drain the ATF.
Follow the disposal requirements.
Replace the ATF drain plug and seal.
Replace the plug for the ATF check and fill hole.
-- Tighten the new drain plug -arrow B-.
Fill Transmission with ATF
-- Shake the ATF-container before opening.
-- Screw the 1 liter ATF container on the Oil Filler.
Use Oil Filler - Adapter 6 VAS6262/6 if the thread on the ATF-container does not fit Oil Filler VAS6262A.
-- Secure the ATF bottle with the Oil Filler VAS6262A on the vehicle as high as possible.
-- Tighten the new plug -arrow A-.
-- Install the Oil Filler - Jointed Hose VAS6262/5 into the ATF check and fill hole -arrow-.
-- Fill the ATF using the adapter until the ATF starts to leak out of the check and fill hole, max capacity, refer to CAPACITIES .
-- Move the selector lever into "P".
-- Start the engine, wait 20 seconds and then turn it off.
- The internal combustion engine must be running for vehicles with hybrid drive. Activate the >>Kick-down<< on the accelerator pedal module or open the hood in order to start the internal combustion engine.
-- Fill the ATF again until it starts to leak out of the hole.
-- Start the engine.
-- Fill the ATF again using the adapter until the ATF starts to leak out of the check and fill hole.
-- Tighten the old plug for the ATF check and fill hole.
-- While pressing the brake pedal and with the vehicle idling, shift through all the selector lever positions ("P", "R", "N", "D/S") leaving each position engaged for 3 seconds.
-- Move the selector lever into "P".
-- Check the ATF level and correct if necessary, refer to ATF LEVEL, CHECKING .
Observe all notes and test requirements for "Checking ATF level and correcting". Refer to ATF LEVEL, CHECKING .
-- Install the rear noise insulation, refer to REAR NOISE INSULATION .
