Starter, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 3.0L TFSI And 3.2L FSI Engine: Removing

-- With the ignition switched off, disconnect the battery ground cable, refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

CAUTION:

Danger of damaging the flex joints in the front muffler.

Do not bend the flex joints in the front muffler more than 10°.

-- Loosen the clamping sleeve -1-, push it toward the rear and tie up the left front muffler.

-- Remove the right engine mount, refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME MOUNT for 3.2L, or OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME MOUNT for 3.0L .

-- Remove the nut -1- and free up the ground cable on the engine support.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the right engine support.

-- Disconnect the connector -3- by sliding the retainer back and pressing the release down.

-- Disconnect the wire -2- from the starter.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and the rear extension from the transmission.

-- Remove the bolt -4- and remove the starter.
