Selector Mechanism Overview

There is a risk of injury and accident from accidentally engaging a gear when the engine is running.

Before work is done with the engine running, move the selector lever into P and press the parking brake button to engage the electromechanical parking brake.

Before disassembling the selector mechanism, perform check. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, CHECKING .

Selector Lever Handle

Decorative Ring

Selector Lever Boot

- For securing the shift mechanism to the body
Rubber Seal
Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module -J587- with Tiptronic Switch -F189-

Selector Mechanism Function Unit
- Can only be replaced as a unit
- Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM FUNCTION UNIT
Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-
- Refer to SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID -N110-
Transmission Park Selector Switch -F305-
- Consists of two microswitches on the circuit board on the shift lock solenoid
- Can only be replaced together with the shift lock solenoid, refer to SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID -N110-
Noise Insulation
- Not on all vehicles;
Lock Washers
- Quantity: 4
- Removing and installing
- For securing the noise insulation to the shift mechanism function unit
Retaining Clip
- Secures selector lever cable on selector mechanism function unit
O-ring
- Removing and installing
Selector Lever Cable
- Do not bend
- There are different versions depending on the vehicle.
- Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE OVERVIEW
- Lightly lubricate ball socket with polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A2 before installing.
