Engine And Engine Compartment From Underneath, Checking For Leaks And Damage
Correct any malfunctions (repair procedure).
-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING .
-- Check engine and components in engine compartment from above for leaks and damage.
-- Check the lines, hoses and connections on the following components for leaks, chafing, porosity and cracks.
- Fuel system
- Cooling and heating system
- Oil circuit
- A/C system
- Intake system
-- Install the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING .
-- Raise the vehicle. Refer to RAISING VEHICLE .
-- Inspect the engine, the lines and the hoses from underneath.
-- Check the transmission and steering for leaks and damage.
When inspecting every 60, 000 km without additional scope: Depending on the procedure when changing the engine oil, removing the noise insulation on the underbody is not necessary.
Remove the quick-release connectors on the noise insulation if necessary so that it is possible to inspect with a flashlight. Lift the noise insulation carefully. It can break.
