Overview - Selector Mechanism

WARNING:

There is a risk of injury and accident from accidentally engaging a gear when the engine is running.

  • Before work is done with the engine running, move the selector lever into "P" and press the parking brake button to engage the electromechanical parking brake.

Before disassembling the selector mechanism, perform check. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, CHECKING .

  1. Selector Lever Handle
  2. Trim Ring
  3. Selector Lever Boot
  4. Clamp
  5. Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26-
  6. Nut
    • 10 Nm
    • For securing the shift mechanism to the body
    • Quantity: 4
  7. Rubber Seal
  8. Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module -J587- with Tiptronic Switch -F189-
  9. Selector Mechanism Function Unit
  10. Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-
  11. Transmission Park Selector Switch -F305-
  12. Noise Insulation
    • Not on all vehicles.
  13. Lock Washers
    • For securing the noise insulation to the shift mechanism function unit
    • Quantity: 4
    • Replacing
  14. Clip
    • Secure the selector lever cable to the selector mechanism function unit
  15. O-Ring
    • Replacing
  16. Selector Lever Cable
    • Do not bend
    • Different versions depending on the vehicle.
    • Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - SELECTOR LEVER CABLE .
    • Lubricate the ball socket lightly with Polycarbamide Grease G 052 142 A2 before installing.
  17. Closure Cap
    • Via the Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-
