Shift Mechanism Function Unit: Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM OVERVIEW .

NOTE:

Lubricate the ball socket on the selector lever cable with polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A2 before installing.

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .

-- Install the heat shield. Refer to OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD .

-- Install tunnel crossmember. Refer to TUNNEL CROSSMEMBER, TRANSMISSION MOUNT AND TRANSMISSION SUPPORT OVERVIEW .

-- Selector mechanism, checking, refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, CHECKING .

-- Align the exhaust system free of tension. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS for engine code CALA, EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS for engine codes CAED, CAEB, CPMB, CPMA, or EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS for engines CCBA, CGXC, CTUB.

-- Install the driveshaft. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Install the subframe crossbrace. Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME .

-- Install the power steering hydraulic line. Refer to STEERING GEAR .

-- Install the noise insulation. OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Install the front ashtray. Refer to FRONT ASHTRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
