Power steering pump (vehicles with 6-cylinder gasoline engine), removing and installing

Removing

Remove ribbed belt. →
- 13 - ENGINE - CRANKSHAFT, CYLINDER BLOCK for 1.8 LITER 4-CYL. 5V TURBO ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): AMB
- 13 - ENGINE - CRANKSHAFT, CYLINDER BLOCK for 2.0 LITER 4-CYL. 4V TURBO ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BPG, BWT
- 13 ENGINE - CRANKSHAFT, CYLINDER BLOCK for 3.0 LITER 6-CYL. 5V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): AVK, BGN
- 13 - ENGINE - CRANKSHAFT, CYLINDER BLOCK for 3.2 V6 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BKH
- 13 - ENGINE - CRANKSHAFT, CYLINDER BLOCK for 4.2 LITER V8 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BNS
- 13 - ENGINE - CRANKSHAFT, CYLINDER BLOCK for 4.2 LITER V8 5V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BHF

Unbolt power steering pump pulley - arrows - , counterholding using Spanner Wrench 3212.
Remove ignition coil.

Not for A4 with 3.0L engine

Remove rear power steering pump bolt with socket and extension.

Remove banjo bolt - 1 -.
Remove suction hose - 2 -.
Remove bolts - arrows - and remove power steering pump with bracket.

NOTE:

Place a cloth under hydraulic pressure lines to absorb escaping hydraulic oil.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

NOTE:

Replace seals and gaskets.
Before installing new pump on intake side, fill hydraulic oil and screw in by hand until oil escapes on pressure side.
Secure all hose connections with new hose clamps.

Turn hub by hand until oil runs out of the pressure side.
Install power steering pump. → 13 ENGINE - CRANKSHAFT, CYLINDER BLOCK
Install new sealing rings onto banjo bolt.
Tighten pressure hose banjo bolt

Install intake line. Installation location → Intake hose .
Tighten power steering pump belt pulley. → 13 ENGINE - CRANKSHAFT, CYLINDER BLOCK
Install ribbed belt. → 13 ENGINE - CRANKSHAFT, CYLINDER BLOCK
Check power steering fluid level → Power steering fluid level, checking .

Bleed steering system → Steering system, bleeding after reconstructing
Check steering system for leaks → Steering system, checking for leaks .
