Locking cable, adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Adjustment pin for shift lock 3 3352 A
- Angle grinder
- Safety goggles
Preparation
NOTE:
- If the procedure described below is followed the center console does not have to be removed.
- Using an angle grinder or similar, cut off Adjustment pin for shift lock 3 3352 A at rear end of flat section - arrow -.
CAUTION:
Wear safety goggles.
- Order a new Adjustment pin for shift lock 3 3352 A as a replacement for subsequent use.
Requirements for adjustment
- Locking cable must be in installation position.
- Selector lever is in position "P"
- Ignition key is in removal position.
Procedure
- Remove trim panel from center console → Selector mechanism cover, removing and installing .
NOTE:
- The selector lever handle and cover can remain installed.
- Remove ashtray from center console →
- 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT
- 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT for BODY INTERIOR - CABRIOLET
- Loosen bolt - 1 -.
- It should be possible to move support bracket - 2 - for locking cable by hand.
- Insert modified Adjustment pin for shift lock 3 3352 A between pin on locking cable lever and locking cable eye.
- Pull locking cable in direction of - arrow - as far as it will go and tighten bolt.
- In this position it should be easy to remove and insert Adjustment pin for shift lock 3 3352 A.
- Remove adjustment gauge.
- Install ashtray in center console →

- Always test ignition key removal lock after adjusting locking cable → Ignition key removal lock, checking .
