Front final drive and transfer case, component overview: Notes

NOTE:
- Components shown in illustration can be removed with transmission installed.
1 - Internal hex bolt, 25 Nm
2 - Driveshaft output flange
3 - Shaft seal
- Replace → 39 - FINAL DRIVE, DIFFERENTIAL
4 - Bolt, 23 Nm
- Qty. 4
5 - Housing cover
6 - O-ring
- Coat with axle oil
7 - Circlip
8 - Grooved ball bearing
- For spur gear 1
- Pressing off Pressing off grooved ball bearing for spur gear 1
- Pressing on Pressing on grooved ball bearing for spur gear 1
9 - Spur gear 1
- For rear ring and pinion set
10 - Circlip
11 - Needle bearing
- For spur gear 1
- Remove only to replace
- To replace transfer case housing, warm to approx. 100° C and drive needle bearing with drift towards rear (Attention! Wear protective gloves)
- Drive in with Sleeve 30-21 to stop
12 - Bolt, 23 Nm
- Loosen or tighten diagonally
13 - Transfer case housing
- Can be replaced if damaged
14 - Clamping nut
15 - Needle bearing
- Remove only to replace
- Replace → Needle bearing for spur gear 2, replacing
16 - Circlip
17 - Spur gear 2
- For rear ring and pinion set
18 - Grooved ball bearing
- For spur gear 2
- Pressing off Pressing off grooved ball bearing for spur gear 2
- Pressing on Pressing on grooved ball bearing for spur gear 2
19 - Circlip
20 - Fastening plate
21 - Guide plate
22 - Bolt, 8 Nm
23 - Circlip
24 - Gasket
- Replace → 39 - FINAL DRIVE, DIFFERENTIAL
25 - Torsen differential
- Replace complete unit if damaged
- Removing and installing → 39 - FINAL DRIVE, DIFFERENTIAL
26 - Shaft seal
27 - Magnet
- Replacing → 39 - FINAL DRIVE, DIFFERENTIAL
28 - Alignment bushing
- Qty. 2
29 - Bleeder
- For transfer case
- With attached cover
- Installation position: Without cover, breather must project 10 to 11 mm out of housing
30 - Bolt, 23 Nm
- Loosen and tighten diagonally
31 - Intermediate flange for front final drive
- Removing and installing → 39 - FINAL DRIVE, DIFFERENTIAL
32 - Gasket
- Replace → 39 - FINAL DRIVE, DIFFERENTIAL
33 - Alignment bushing
34 - Drive pinion
- For front final drive
- Removing and installing → Shaft seal in drive pinion, replacing
35 - Intermediate pinion
- For front final drive
- Installation position: gear identification faces toward differential
36 - Pinion gear
- For front final drive
- Installation position: gear identification faces toward differential
37 - Shaft seal
- Replace → Shaft seal in drive pinion, replacing
