Hydraulic Control Unit, Removing And Installing: Installing: Notes
Install in reverse order of removal. At the same time note the following:
- Tightening specifications. Refer to OVERVIEW - END COVER .
Always replace a dirty or defective hydraulic control unit.
Replace gaskets and O-rings.
-- Replace the axial sealing elements -A- (quantity: 3) and -B-.
- Installation position: the axial sealing elements -A- must be installed with the sealing lips facing upward as shown.
- The color marking on the upper edge must be visible.
-- Coat the axial sealing elements with ATF before installing -arrow-.
-- Push the selector lever -2- in the direction of -arrow- all the way forward so that the shifting cam -1- is almost vertical (slightly angled to the right).
-- Press the control piston -B- on the back of the hydraulic control unit outward (to the right) until it engages into the assembly spring -A-.
-- With the pump shaft facing forward, install the hydraulic control unit tilted downward into the transmission.
When installing the hydraulic control unit, make sure the shifting cam (1 in image A38-10189 Installing ) engages into the open groove -arrow- on the control piston -B-.
There is a risk of damaging the hydraulic control unit.
- If the shifting cam or the control piston are incorrectly placed in the following step and the bolts are already tightened to the tightening specification, then the hydraulic control unit will be damaged.
-- Install the bolts -arrows- hand-tight.
